Modern-Realism Government

People are upset about budget cuts related to education in the United States. The current educational system is based on fiction; therefore, ineffective. Government wants to address these problems and there are a few areas for improvement.

An area of concern is wealthy and elite placing their values on everyone. We are working to have everyone in fanciful jobs when most people work to get a paycheck and enjoy life. Having experiencing working on assembly-lines. It does not take a lot of education to place pamphlets in a box. Making enough money to enjoy life is worth the trade. Many people are happy going to work to pick up a paycheck and go home spend time with the kids, listen to music or host a barbeque for work friends. In fact, the only deficit is not being able to get a job at sixteen so they become independent at an earlier age.

Restrictions made people have to graduate from High School. In the 90's people got jobs after dropping-out-of High School and they are doing well, because learned everything they needed to know through job experience.

Working at a restaurant, everything needed to know was taught while working; except, for one state required food-handler's permit. Education is great and can be limited to reading, writing and math. People need to know about government to vote and how to drive. The most useful skills are not being taught in public schools. There is a typing class. Computer labs should be open for those without a computer at home. Several jobs require a minimum typing speed of 30 words-per-minute. Workforce hosts typing tests.

Teachers complain about teaching Doctors and Lawyers; however, they don't teach them what they needed to know to do their job. They went to universities and it is expensive to get a graduate degree. It is expensive, because universities and private schools are not paid by taxpayers. Private schools keep costs in relation to income. This is the price people pay for wanting more. A family has a better chance of sending one special child to a university when other children already started jobs they will keep the rest of their life.

Several families do not have a special child with high expectations. It is an extension of a heritage producing something real. They should be respected and paid well. All they need to learn is taught on-the-job. Why go into debt to work at a coal mine?

Supervisors oversee twenty or thirty people. They might need specific information, yet only one in thirty people even need a degree. People complain about private schools; however, private schools train people with additional information too cumbersome to teach within a month. Leaders must be educated in theory, ethics, standards and many other realities to get it right. People depend on leaders to make schedules and think about the future.

One area of tension is making education fair for everyone. Wealthy neighborhoods benefit from wealthy parents. Perhaps they want their son to get a football scholarship in college. Donating money to pay for a football field, private schools are private; however, everyone's tuition is raised to cover operational costs of maintaining the football field. This is the same for public schools. Someone wealthy transfers the cost of paying for future education by buying a football field. Costs are shifted to school districts. People also get scholarships so it is fair; however, it is not fair. The football field is at one school.

Options to make it fair are opening fields to all schools in the district. Restrict contributions to specific schools. Lift the ban on bake sales and accepting large donations; however, all donations are distributed by school districts not schools. The district places football fields strategically, so those needing a practice field have equal access and reduce amount of taxpayer money going to benefit a handful of people. Football is lucrative for pro-ball players, yet job opportunities are limited.

Ideally the government will find a method to evaluate what is important. These plans apply to people now; however, the future changes. Computers were an optional in the 90's. Now it is mandatory. Most jobs require computer and typing skills. A person can graduate with a basic degree verifying they are competent in reading, writing, math, political science and driving. Juniors and Seniors remain in public schools with optional vocation related courses, like private schools. A Junior or Senior may skip this and go straight to college or apprenticeships to begin life now. In effect, there will be no need to expand High Schools for now and everyone has want they really want.

The fictional reality people are spewing diminishes the value of laborers. Getting a PhD and using thoughts to change the world is no better or worse than doing the work that makes thoughts become real. A thought is nice, yet so much better when holding it in your hands. A song in your mind is great. Listening to a CD is better. Beyond the musician several people make and ship discs to someone who will enjoy it. Ore does not dig itself out of the ground. Plants do not pop out of the ground and pepper spray wild animals. Office buildings don't clean themselves. Football fields don't mow themselves with magical pixie dust.
