Tax issues often trouble the United States of America. Even before receiving another survey from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, I was thinking about USA taxes. Several questions are orientated towards taxes. The usual problem is people want more from the government without paying. I would like adequate funding for military, but do not want to pay. One option not appearing on the survey was a, onetime, costly restructure to saves billions of dollars in future years.
Government laws are piled on top of each other and sometimes repeated. They are also repeated in Federal, State, County and City tax codes, an ominous problem. We could afford a few million to consolidate all the tax laws into one cohesive code and nullify old laws. This should incorporate past laws, consider new issues, promote fairness, be more efficient and reflect on historical concerns.
This will take a considerable amount of time. Preferring it is done accurately to endure the years. The first step is to clearly divide responsibility between Federal, State, County and City tax codes. Federal taxes pay for national freeways. State taxes pay for instate roads and so-on. Issues like airports relate to the city. A town like Killeen, TX doesn't need a fancy airport; however, Manhattan, NY is expected to have a great airport to support imports and exports.
Killeen services a larger, sparse population in a Right-to-Work State and enforces economic controls to maintain a lower cost-of-living. The city's economy regulates the expense of building airports. They do not have to collect as much in taxes, because the cost of land, labor and materials is a fifth of the cost in Manhattan. People in Manhattan make between $35 and $40 an hour to live well. In Killeen, most people make $11 an hour to pay for essentials. The government supplies necessities to an area or region, but at a lower cost working within similar percentages. One percent of $1,000,000 is $10,000 while one percent of $100,000 is $1,000.
Sales tax might be the first resolved tax issue. Passing a law takes an exorbitant amount of time. A flat tax is unproductive. The tax would simply ride along the top of the economic curve decreasing peeks and lows between inflation and recession. I prefer a range tax. The range tax is an automated system responding to the economy, giving relief to people who need it while government officials find away to address ongoing problems.
The government is responsible for helping infant industries. However, after the infant industry matures and several companies offer a similar service the government is reluctant to downsize so private companies have a greater pool of customers. An easy tax code assists in making it easy to build and deconstruct.
Currently, phone service is a mature industry. How to downsize government responsibility is an ongoing concern. We want to protect our national service. In addition, taxpayers paid for the electrical and phone lines private companies are using to build cellular towers and expand business. A clear division makes it possible for companies to purchase parts of the structure as a commodity and remove responsibility from the government. Of course, business people want to maintain leverage, ergo it is important to enforce antitrust laws. Then companies create leverage keeping costs low.
Normally, only two or more companies have to exist in an area. This could also be improved so smaller companies are able to gain partial ownership of government built entities. Any business taking responsibility must honor existing contracts regarding service contracts previously maintained by the government. They must honor consumer requests and maintain equal service to existing customers. They must provide service to new people living in the area, even if in a distant and unpopulated area. Bond issues and grants related to fulfilling this task is handled through regular channels.
It is foreseeable amendments will be made to address new issues not presently known and introduce new industries into existing tax codes. If the original document is fair and addresses the many issues using past laws as a guide, benefits for the future of the United States of America is enormous.
